Read the purchased unit
A play-related quantity describes an action count under the listing’s definition. It should not automatically be reported as the same number of individual listeners. Ask how the service defines its unit before using it in a campaign target or client quote.
Label the reporting metric
When reviewing a report, write down exactly which metric it shows and the selected period. Keep plays and listeners in separate columns. A relationship between two numbers does not make them interchangeable or prove a particular audience composition.
Avoid unsupported audience claims
Do not infer demographics, interest or future listening behaviour from a purchased action quantity. A useful report can describe the request and available observations without claiming a larger business effect. Maintain the distinction when comparing repeat campaigns.
Decision checklist
| Decision | What to check |
|---|---|
| Order unit | The action defined by the listing |
| Report unit | The metric actually displayed |
| Claim | No unsupported conversion from actions to people |
Worked example
If an illustrative brief requests 2,000 play actions, it should not promise 2,000 distinct new listeners. The order quantity and any listener report answer different questions and need separately labelled evidence.
Example figures explain the decision; they are not current prices or promised results.
