Separate the three numbers
Record the quantity originally requested, the quantity reported as completed and the amount actually charged after any adjustment. These figures answer different questions. A partial status alone does not explain the financial treatment or prove a specific remaining balance.
Use the applicable terms
Review the service’s partial-completion and credit rules, then compare them with the transaction record. Ask support about any unexplained difference. Do not assume that a unit-price calculation automatically equals the credit posted to the account.
Plan the remaining scope
Only after the first request is resolved should you decide whether another order is needed. Consider the current target count and any unrelated changes since the baseline. Keep the original request and replacement request separate so later reporting does not count completed work twice.
Decision checklist
| Decision | What to check |
|---|---|
| Scope | Requested and reported completed quantities |
| Money | Actual charge and posted adjustment |
| Next request | Remaining need after the first order is resolved |
Worked example
For an illustrative request of 900 units with 540 reported complete, 360 is the arithmetic remainder. The buyer still needs to verify the account adjustment and current target before creating any request for that remainder.
Example figures explain the decision; they are not current prices or promised results.
