Map the two publications
Record the original company post and the employee's shared item where separate references exist. Note which account published each one. Matching content does not establish that a service targeting one publication also covers the other account's presentation of it.
Match the action to the brief
Decide whether the requested metric concerns the company announcement or the employee's added context. Check the service's accepted target type. A repost-related purchase should not be interpreted as a guarantee of named employee participation unless such a placement arrangement is explicitly documented.
Keep reporting separate
Use the purchased target's own observation record and label any combined campaign totals clearly. A reaction on an employee's item is not interchangeable with a reaction on the company post. This distinction prevents a report from appearing complete merely because activity occurred somewhere around the announcement.
Decision checklist
| Decision | What to check |
|---|---|
| Original | Company publication |
| Reshare | Employee publication or reference |
| Order | Exact supported target |
Worked example
A hypothetical company announces a webinar and an employee adds a personal invitation in a separate share. If the brief concerns the company's announcement, use its target when supported. The employee's commentary should not silently replace the purchased item in the final report.
Example figures explain the decision; they are not current prices or promised results.
