Identify the credit record
Find the order charge and the separate balance adjustment, if one was issued. A partial status alone does not prove that a credit has arrived. Match the transaction reference, order identifier, currency, and posting time before revising the budget.
Separate net spend from delivery
Subtract a confirmed credit from the original charge to calculate net account spending. Record delivered quantity separately using the service's documented method. A financial adjustment and a delivery count answer different questions and should not replace each other.
Plan any replacement independently
If you want to purchase the remaining quantity elsewhere, first confirm the original order has stopped. Add the new order charge to net spending. Do not assume the credit covers a replacement at a different rate or with different minimums.
Decision checklist
| Decision | What to check |
|---|---|
| Charge | Original deduction |
| Credit | Confirmed adjustment |
| Replacement | New purchase decision |
Worked example
A hypothetical order costs $12 and later receives a confirmed $3 balance credit. Net spend is $9. If a separate replacement costs $4, the combined spend becomes $13, not $16 and not $8.
Example figures explain the decision; they are not current prices or promised results.
