Identify the publication
Open both items and record the publishing account and direct URL for each. The quoted content may be the most visually prominent part of the page, but that does not make it the intended target. Describe the required action in relation to the chosen post.
Check the offer's object
Confirm whether the service accepts the quote post, the referenced original or another specified format. A repost-related service is not automatically a purchase of newly written quote posts. Those actions have different specifications and should be compared under their actual labels.
Report without combining counters
Keep observations for the original and quote separate unless you explicitly label an aggregate campaign calculation. A change on one does not establish that the other order target received activity. This distinction is especially important when different accounts own the two publications.
Decision checklist
| Decision | What to check |
|---|---|
| Original | Referenced item's direct URL |
| Quote | New publication's direct URL |
| Scope | Action supported by the listing |
Worked example
Suppose a brand quotes a partner's announcement. If the brief concerns likes on the brand's added commentary, use the brand's quote-post target when supported. A purchase against the partner's original URL would address a different publication, even though the same announcement appears.
Example figures explain the decision; they are not current prices or promised results.
