Use one line per action
Record the platform, service identifier, target, quantity, and billing unit for every component. Different actions can have different rates and requirements even when they concern the same content. A combined quantity alone cannot explain the expected purchase.
Calculate component totals
Apply each rate only to its matching quantity. Add the resulting charges after confirming whether the service is billed per thousand, per item, or for a duration. Avoid applying an average rate to a mixed bundle with incompatible units.
Keep changes itemized
If the client changes one component, recalculate that line and the overall budget. Preserve the other quantities instead of silently redistributing the balance. This makes the purchase easier to approve and later reconcile against individual order records.
Decision checklist
| Decision | What to check |
|---|---|
| Action | Separate service line |
| Unit | Rate basis |
| Approval | Quantity and cost per line |
Worked example
In a hypothetical plan, 2,000 views at $1 per thousand cost $2, while 100 likes at $4 per thousand cost $0.40. The combined budget is $2.40, but the order still contains two distinct actions.
Example figures explain the decision; they are not current prices or promised results.
