Locate the change in the workflow
Determine whether the request is still a draft, approved but unsubmitted, or already accepted by the panel. Editing an internal brief does not edit an existing order. Keep submitted requests visible while evaluating the new instruction.
Describe the differences
Compare old and new target, action, quantity, timing, and budget. Identify any purchase that would no longer serve the revised brief. Check cancellation or correction eligibility for that order instead of assuming it can be repurposed.
Approve the revised commitment
Calculate any additional spending or potential overlap before submitting new requests. Save the client's updated approval with a version number or date. Keep the original approval as context for orders that were correctly placed before the change.
Decision checklist
| Decision | What to check |
|---|---|
| Stage | Draft or accepted order |
| Difference | Changed purchase fields |
| Approval | Revised budget and scope |
Worked example
A hypothetical client changes from one 2,000-view order to two 1,000-view orders after submission. The total quantity is unchanged, but the targets and order structure differ. The accepted order cannot be assumed to split itself across the new links.
Example figures explain the decision; they are not current prices or promised results.
